MARGARET TARRANCE

Born in Dallas 1951. Highland Park High School 1969. Bachelor of Arts
Degree University of Texas Austin 1974. Moved to Athens, Texas 1980.
Early
Influences-her parents Morton and Anita Bigger (avid mosaic artists) and
her art teacher at Hockaday elementary. Making a full circle, Margaret has
returned to Hockaday in recent years as a upper school summer school art
teacher.
Style- Expressionist. Subjects-portraits of remembered or imagined people,
portraits of Jesus Christ -these often in mixed media with collage, broken
mirror and found discarded objects from walks- architectural landscapes
from her travels to Provence, Tuscany, Spain and Africa where her Father was
head of exploration for Union Oil in Cotonou, Dahamey-now named Benin-and
Margaret will long cherish her visit with him there in 1969.
"Through the expression in the eyes or the movement I the trees I hope
through the paint to create a dialogue with the observer."
Eleven giclees of Tarrance's originals are published and available in three sizes.

editorial page of Veranda magazine. Other works have been advertised in
